PLUG IN CHARGERS - For a while plugging in to charge your EVs might be feasible, but as electrics become more popular, they will soak up energy from the grids that supply homes, offices and factories, putting an enormous strain on the present generating infrastructure. For some reason policy makers, utilities and vehicle OEMs don't appear to be able to see that far into the future. Our crystal ball makes that much plain, without any eye drops.
WHERE CAN YOU BUY HYDROGEN FOR YOUR FUEL CELL EV ?
According to UK H2 Mobility, there are currently 14 hydrogen stations in the UK for fuel cell powered electrically propelled vehicles. Five of these are located within the M25, with others in the Southeast and Midlands. There are only two hydrogen refuelling points in Wales, one in the north of England, two in Scotland and none in Northern Ireland for cars.
The EU is better if you live around Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany, but ridiculously underserved in France, Italy and Spain. Meaning that truckers cannot even think about buying hydrogen HGVs, because they will be stranded, almost at the point of sale.
ONE SIZE FITS ALL - Well, very nearly. As part of this project we need to define the physical dimensions of a standard pack, so that it can be stacked to provide electrical energy for all trucks, and around 90% of cars that at present use lithium battery packs. Pay As You Drive technology and smart service stations are the key to providing an intelligent energy mix for EVs.
