Fuel Cells and Green Hydrogen offer a long term solution to sustainable zero emission motoring, provided that a delivery system accompanies any range extending solution, that is capable of of giving us the infrastructure we need for a mobility circular economy.
Transitioning towards Zero Emission Vehicles: feasibility studies

(COMPETITION) FUNDING RATES: COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH - ONBOARD
up to 70% if you are a micro or small organisation
This means you will have to provide:
£90 - 180,000 of funding if you are a micro (SME) organisation £120 - 240,000 of funding if you are a medium size organisation £150 - 300,000 of funding if you are a large organisation
On that basis, you will need to assess venturing out into the technological unknown, very carefully. The OZEV are asking a lot of anyone considering rising to the challenge, but especially so for start-ups that do not have profits to tap into, from years of trading and market exploitation.
One might then expect the larger concerns to take up the torch, rather than a start up company, that is probably supported by directors loans, and is unlikely to persuade banks to lend against proposals that may not have an immediate commercial market. Or may do so, but for fossil fuel and other concerns, looking to red-flag disruptive technology.
Our
advice is not to over extend yourself. If you cannot comfortably afford to
take a hit, leave development to those with deeper pockets. Consider filing
a patent instead. With 2035 looming fast and patents having a lifespan of 20
years. State granted protection for zero emission vehicle improvements,
suddenly seems like a good bet. For example, £90,000 ninety thousand pounds
buys a lot of patent cover. Why waste that on a feasibility study. Get the
tech protected, and let the big players cover the cost of development
refinement - under licence.

DUAL FUEL - Service stations like that above, are not needed for the proposed onboard range extending kits for trucks and vans, but in the longer term such off-board facilities could provide the infrastructure solution to comply with the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018.
